Prospective Families

VCA Prospective Parents

Dear Families of the Chippewa Valley,

When I first discovered classical education, I was struck by something simple: students who truly loved learning, not because they were chasing grades or test scores, but because they had encountered ideas that captured their imagination and challenged their thinking.

That’s what we’re building at Veritas Classical Academy. A school where your child will read great stories, engage in real conversations, and develop the habits of mind and heart that lead to a fulfilling life.

As a parent myself, I know the weight of choosing a school for your child. You want more than academics. You want a community that shares your values, teachers who truly know your child, and an environment where character matters as much as achievement.

At VCA, you’ll find all of this in a tuition-free public school. We partner with parents because we believe you are your child’s first and most important teacher. Our doors are always open, and your voice always matters.

I invite you to visit our school, meet our teachers, and see our students in action. I think you’ll discover something special.

How do I apply for enrollment?

To enroll at Veritas Classical Academy, families must complete a lottery application. We encourage prospective parents to attend an information session to learn more about our mission, curriculum, and school culture. We also encourage families to take a tour of our school.

Our enrollment lottery is held each spring. Families will receive either an offer of admission or placement on a waitlist depending on seat availability.

Jonathan Grey - Head of School

Is it really free? What is a Charter School?

A charter school is a tuition-free public school. In Wisconsin, charter schools receive the same per-pupil state funding that traditional public schools receive, so there is no tuition, no fees, and no cost to families, not now and not ever. The difference is that charter schools have more flexibility in how they teach and structure the school day, but in exchange they are held to higher accountability standards. If a charter school does not perform, its charter can be revoked. Think of it this way: it is a public school that your family chooses rather than one assigned by your district, funded by the same tax dollars, and completely free to attend.

Veritas Classical Academy is a tuition-free K–12 public charter school that is steadily growing each year. We currently serve students in grades K–5 and will expand into the Upper School beginning with 6th grade during the 2026–2027 school year. All students must reside within Wisconsin to attend, and seats are filled through a public lottery system.

What is classical education?

Classical education provides students with a robust liberal arts foundation rooted in time-tested academic disciplines. It emphasizes the cultivation of character, the disciplined pursuit of knowledge, and the development of clear thinking and sound judgment.

Through literature, history, mathematics, science, language, and the fine arts, students encounter ideas that have shaped human thought for centuries. They learn to think deeply, communicate confidently, and act with integrity. By forming both habits of mind and habits of character, classical education prepares students for lives of purpose, leadership, and meaningful service.
