Elementary Teacher Position Overview

This position requires a passion for student formation and school culture, and a deep commitment both to mastering classical education and working collaboratively within a vibrant academic and spiritual community. The highest aim of our elementary teachers is to foster the moral and intellectual growth of students by delivering well-prepared instruction in orderly, joyful classrooms.

Responsibilities:

· Deliver well prepared, classical instruction in core subjects such as reading, writing, grammar, arithmetic, history, and science.

· Use Socratic inquiry and other classical teaching methods to engage students in meaningful discussions.

· Maintain a well-ordered, joyful, and respectful classroom environment aligned with the school’s mission and philosophy.

· Collaborate with other faculty to ensure alignment across sections and grade levels.

· Model and instill habits of virtue, such as honesty, perseverance, and humility, in students.

· Foster a classroom culture that embodies the mission and vision of VCA

· Build strong partnerships with parents by maintaining regular communication regarding student progress and behavior.

· Evaluate student performance through regular assignments, assessments, and standardized test results.

· Provide constructive feedback to students, promoting growth in knowledge, skills, and character.

· Prepare and submit progress reports and grades in a timely manner.

· Participate actively in ongoing professional development, including training in classical education and pedagogy.

· Attend and contribute to faculty meetings, curriculum planning sessions, and school events.

· Collaborate with colleagues to support school initiatives and foster a vibrant school culture.

· Embrace and contribute to the mission, vision, and culture of Veritas Classical Academy.

· Support extracurricular activities, community events, and school traditions as needed.

· Teach and maintain school-wide procedures and systems

· Maintain accurate and organized records for attendance, assignments, and communications.

· Supervise students during transitions, recess, and other non-classroom activities.

· Take ownership of academic results and work to continuously improve them

· Actively participate in three-week summer professional development in preparation for the upcoming school year

· Perform additional duties as assigned by the administration.

Qualifications:

· Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university

· Able to pass Wisconsin Fingerprint Clearance and background check

· Able to pass appropriate content knowledge exam required for state licensure

· Prior teaching experience is valued, but not required

Position Overview

The Director of Special Education will oversee the daily operations of Veritas Classical Academy’s Special Education Department, developing a healthy, thriving Special Education and Student Services department that aligns with the philosophical vision of the school. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with strong organizational and interpersonal skills, capable of managing multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

· Demonstrates commitment to the education of children by supporting the organizational vision, mission, guiding principles, and strategic direction of Veritas Classical Academy

· Plans, develops, implements and evaluates the Special Education program and ensures the program’s compliance with district, state, and federal guidelines

· Fosters instructional programs and services improvement

· Directs the student Individualized Education Program (IEP) and Section 504 processes in a manner consistent with State and Federal Guidelines

· Prepares State and Federal Reports

· Works with parents, teachers, and administrators to ensure that the IEP/504 for each student meets his or her unique needs

· Handles formal complaints regarding the special education program

· Consults with various community, county, state, and federal agencies regarding special education programs and individual students. Serves as liaison for special education agencies

· Provides leadership and direction to special education teachers and educational assistants

· Provides necessary professional development to ensure that staff maintains knowledge commensurate with Federal and State laws

· Works with Headmaster to develop and administer all budgets related to Special Education and student services. Supervises Medicaid School-based- Services (SBS) billing and Medicaid Administrative Claiming

· Supervises and evaluates special education teachers and instructional aides, and pupil services support staff

· Assists in establishing and maintaining good relationships with civic, professional, service, parent organizations, legislators and the community in general by having an active interest and involvement in school and community activities.

· Engages in professional growth activities to enhance job performance and/or meet changing job requirements.

· Delivers instructional minutes to students on caseload in conjunction with other Special Education Department staff

· Performs other duties as assigned by the Headmaster

Qualifications

· Must have Master’s degree in administration or in the process of obtaining degree required for licensure

· Must be licensed as a Director of Special Education and Pupil Services (80) or in the process of obtaining the license

· A minimum of three years’ experience in teaching, administration, and/or supervisory roles in education. Background special education instruction and law, Response to Intervention, etc. (preferred)

· Excellent interpersonal communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships

· Ability to organize confidential data efficiently.

· Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with students, parents, co-workers and the broader community

· Strong computer skills utilizing Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new software quickly

· Motivated self-starter with an ownership attitude.
